The History and process of Giclees
Developed in the latter part of the twentieth century, giclee printing was originally used to proof lithographs. The process involves digitized scans of an original painting printed on a high resolution ink jet printer. Museums exhibit giclees when a piece in their collection is too delicate to display. Likewise, individuals and businesses may select giclees as a cost effective way to include high quality artwork in their interiors.
Our Giclee Selection
Ellis Contemporary offers limited edition giclees by Sally Condon, Cynthia Debolt, Krista Harris, Joan Levine Russell and Phyllis Stapler. Each artist is involved with the printer in all color and tonal manipulation insuring the reproduction is an accurate representation of the original painting. Archival inks, paper and mats are used and each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
